Agassiz BC: On Sunday September 28th, 2008 at approximately 8:20 p.m. the Agassiz RCMP were called to a Fire at the Kent Hotel located at 5936 Lougheed Highway in Agassiz BC. The Agassiz Fire Department was already on scene, the fire was fully engaged and building could not be saved.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is in the early stages, however, the fire is being treated as suspicious at this time. A fire investigator from the Fire Commissioners Office has been called to assist with the investigation, and the investigation is ongoing at this time. It does not appear that anyone was in the building at the time, as it was closed for renovations. Police are seeking the public’s help in this investigation, and are seeking any possible witnesses.

The Agassiz RCMP Serious Crime Unit is investigating the fire as suspicious at this time and is asking anyone with information to contact the Agassiz RCMP at 604-796-2211 or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or online at www.chilliwackcrimestoppers.ca
