Agassiz BC: On Saturday August 29th, 2009 at approximately 6:45 p.m. RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services, Agassiz Fire, and Emergency Health Services were called to the scene of a single vehicle collision on Highway #7 east of the junction with Highway #9. The driver and lone male occupant, age 21 of Hope BC, was transported by paramedics to Chilliwack General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.

Witnesses of the collision and roadway evidence indicate that speed was a factor. The vehicle involved, a four door Chrysler sedan, was travelling west bound on Highway #7 at a high rate of speed when the driver attempted to pass on double solid line and lost control when merging back into the west bound lanes. The vehicle went off road right into a corn field rolling several times before coming to a stop.

The investigation is ongoing by RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services and the BC Coroners Service. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time. Anyone who witnessed this collision who has not yet spoken to police is asked to call RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services at 604-702-4039.
