Agassiz BC: On Friday September 19th, 2008 at approximately 4:55 a.m. Agassiz RCMP, Fraser Valley Traffic Services, ICARS, Agassiz Fire Department and BC Ambulance Services attended to the scene of a collision that occurred on Highway #7 in Agassiz BC at the base of Mount Woodside. The collision involved a Tractor Trailer and Compact Car and has resulted in one fatality.
Early indication is that the tractor trailer was traveling west bound, when the east bound vehicle crossed over the center line and collided head on with the tractor trailer in the west bound lane. The lone female occupant of the east bound vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her name in not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin. The two occupants of the tractor trailer were taken to local area hospital for treatment of minor injuries only.
Highway #7 currently remains closed in both directions, and will remain closed for several hours, as the Integrated Collision Analyst/Reconstructionist Services (ICARS) conduct an investigation of the scene.
The exact cause and possible contributing factors to this collision are not known at this time. This incident is still under investigation by RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services, Agassiz RCMP, ICARS and the BC Coroners Office.
