November is known as “Movember” with the Canadian Cancer Society and fundraising circles. A total of 11 RCMP East Kootenay Traffic Services members conducted a fund raising drive, in conjunction with “Movember” raising over $3000, which was presented to the Cranbrook Office of the Canadian Cancer Society on December 15, 2009.

"As members of the community the officers and staff of East Kootenay Traffic Services recognize the importance of being involved with our communities. As members of the R.C.M.P. our careers can take us to many areas of the Province, and in some cases the country.  Often our members are posted at locations for only a brief period of time, yet like anyone else we develop friendships and a connection to the community we serve, that we carry with us throughout our professional lives. Recognizing and supporting funding raising events is an opportunity for us to display our support and commitment to the communities we serve.  We chose this particular cause in order to also show support for one of our own members, who recently underwent treatment for prostate cancer.  We were again humbled by this member's outlook and energy, with Cst Irv Miller participating and raising $2,000.00 himself during the event.

As the NCO i/c of East Kootenay Traffic Services I would like to thank the many members, family, friends and associates who supported us in our funding raising event. While there are many worthy charitable agencies our unit chose to support prostate cancer awareness through supporting our local office of the Canadian Cancer Society" stated Sgt Einor Jorgenson NCOi/c East Kootenay Traffic Services.

Thank-you to everyone that supported us.  If anyone in the community would like to forward any further donations they can do so through our detachment or by contacting the Canadian Cancer Society directly",added Sgt Einor Jorgenson.
